Trinidad and Tobago Business Establishments
Trinidad and Tobago Business Establishments Statistics
Annual series that provides national and regional data on the distribution of establishments by size and industry.
Identification of Business units
Information about units must be available and sufficiently detailed to define the statistical units and to determine their activity classification. The principle or main activity is classified using ISIC Rev. 4 , an international standard classification of economic activities arranged so that entities can be classified and grouped according to the kind of activity they carry out.
Establishment
An establishment is an enterprise or part of an enterprise that is situated in a single location and in which only a single productive activity is carried out or in which the principal productive activity accounts for most of the value-added.
Enterprise
An enterprise is a firm or a combination of firms that engages in economic activities which are classified into multiple industries. An enterprise may be a corporation (or quasi-corporation), a non-profit institution or an un-incorporated enterprise.
Firm
A firm is an establishment or a combination of establishments in which all fall under the same ownership. Most businesses are single-establishment firms. A firm may have multiple locations and multiple industries.

SURVEY OF ESTABLISHMENTS
The establishment survey covers primarily business establishments, but also includes government agencies, non-profits, and most other entities that employ workers for a wage.
Our surveys often only cover a subset of all establishments in an industry, normally those above a certain size limit within their industry. Feedback from establishment surveys facilitates the compilation of estimates of GDP and is also the vital mechanism for updating the Statistical Business Register as it provides information on changes in contact address, changes in the economic stratification characteristics, such as activity and size as well as provide information on business deaths, etc.
